A Lesson from the Oprah Winfrey Show
Many years ago on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah asked one of the worlds wealthiest people if they could boil it all down to just one thing, what separates the worlds super wealthy from the average person. He did not answer right away. He leaned forward and stared at the floor deep in thought for what seemed like an eternity when he finally looked up and said, Oprah, it really all comes down to this, when a super wealthy person is presented with a business opportunity, they look at it and ask some questions. They ask themselves if it makes sense, can it make money, is it legal, is it moral, is it ethical? If they can answer yes to all of those questions, they become involved. The average person asks a totally different set of questions. They ask what do I do if this situation happens. What happens if this other situation happens? Maybe this third situation happens, than what do I do? You see, the average person confuses the decision making stage with the problem solving stage. The super wealthy do not. They know that every business opportunity is going to have its share of challenges and they will go about solving them when they appear. The average person gets stuck trying to solve every conceivable situation, most of which will never happen, in advance. As a result, they never get off of square one. If you aspire to become one of the super wealthy, do not confuse the decision making stage with the problem solving stage!
Don't be like the Old Hound Dog Duke!
A fertilizer salesman was making his rounds to the farmers in the area when he stopped in to chat with Farmer Jones. While they were standing on Farmer Jones front porch, Farmer Jones old hound dog Duke let out this screeching painful sounding howl. The salesman looked at the dog for a second a little shaken and then continued on with his conversation with Farmer Jones. After a few minutes, Duke let out another screeching painful sounding howl. Again the salesman was shaken for a moment, but continued on with the conversation with Farmer Jones in as Farmer Jones was paying absolutely no attention to Duke. After another five minutes or so, Duke let out a third screeching painful sounding howl. The salesman could take it no longer. He asked Farmer Jones what was wrong with his dog. Farmer Jones politely answered that there was nothing wrong with Duke, It was just that there was a nail sticking up through the floorboards where Duke was laying and it hurt. The salesman then asked Farmer Jones why the dog just did not get up and move. Farmer Jones answered that it must not hurt enough to move, just enough to whine about it!
Many people unfortunately are like Farmer Jones old hound dog Duke, their financial situation bothers them enough to complain about it every chance they get, but not enough to do something about it. Do not be like Duke. Take action to solve your financial situation! You can do it! Others with less ability than you have, so you absolutely can! Make it happen for yourself! You deserve it!
